Indian passport holders must get a visa before travelling to Brazil. Tourists apply in person for a Visitor Visa (VIVIS) at the Embassy in New Delhi or the Consulate General in Mumbai. There is no tourist e-visa: the online e-visa is only for business trips.
When you do not need a visa
You can enter without a visa if you hold one of the following:
- A diplomatic or official Indian passport, for stays of up to 90 days
The Embassy also notes that a yellow fever certificate is not required to enter Brazil, but Indian health officials require proof of vaccination when you return to India.

These are the regular fees listed by the Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi. The only accepted payment is a bank transfer from the applicant’s own account, so that the applicant’s name shows on the Embassy’s bank statement; cash deposits and payments from an agent’s account are not accepted. Fees are non-refundable, including fees paid for the wrong visa category.
Documents required
The official source lists these documents:
- Online visa application form (signed by both parents for minors)
- Passport, original and copy: signed, valid for at least 6 months, with at least 2 blank pages
- Proof of financial capability, such as bank statements for the past three months, an income tax return or a pay slip
- Passport-style photo that meets ICAO requirements, taken in the last 6 months
- Flight tickets: a booked itinerary showing entry into and exit from Brazil
- Personal cover letter with details of the applicant and the trip
- Hotel reservation or similar document
- Where relevant, an invitation letter from the company or event organiser, or proof of registration if you are attending an event as a spectator
- For minors: a visa authorisation form signed by both parents and notarised
How to apply
Fill in the online visa application form and print the receipt. Completing the form does not submit your application.
Request an appointment through the Embassy’s e-consular system. Do not send documents by email.
Pay the visa fee by bank transfer at the last step of the appointment form.
Wait 24 to 48 hours for the Embassy to validate your request. You then receive an email link to book your appointment.
Go to the Embassy at your appointment time with your passport and all original documents. The submission counter works Monday to Thursday, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, and walk-in or courier applications are not accepted.
If you live in Maharashtra, Goa or Karnataka, you may apply at the Consulate General of Brazil in Mumbai instead.
Processing time
Up to 10–15 business days; the Embassy cites high demand and advises applying as early as possible. Before that, the Embassy takes 24 to 48 hours to validate your appointment request, and submission slots can be scarce.
