- Currency: Bolivian Boliviano (BOB) is the local currency. ATMs are available in La Paz, Santa Cruz, and Cochabamba but can run out of cash in smaller towns. Carry US Dollars as backup — they are widely accepted at exchange houses.
- Transportation: El Alto International Airport (LPB) in La Paz is the main gateway — at 4,061 m it's the highest international airport in the world. Buses are the primary mode of intercity transport. The "Death Road" (North Yungas Road) from La Paz to Coroico is famous among mountain bikers.
