From 26 October 2026 the Embassy and the Consulate General in Mumbai accept applications directly, and fees are paid by demand draft only.

How to apply
Fill in the application on China’s online visa application system, in use for India since 22 December 2025.
Prepare your passport, photo and the documents for your visa type; a tourist (L) visa needs an itinerary with round-trip booking and hotel reservation, or an invitation.
Once the online review is approved, submit your passport and documents within 30 days at the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi, or at the Consulate General in Mumbai if you live in Maharashtra or Karnataka.
On the collection date, pay the fee by demand draft and collect your passport.
Processing time
Regular service takes 7 working days and express service 4 working days, counted from the day after you submit your passport. Urgent service in 2 working days is available in some cases.
