Best Time to Visit Brunei
Brunei has an equatorial tropical climate with high humidity and temperatures year-round. The best time depends on rainfall patterns:
- Dry Season (February to April): The least rainy period with slightly lower humidity. Temperatures range from 24-32C. Good for exploring the water villages (Kampong Ayer) and Ulu Temburong National Park.
- Wet Season (October to January): Higher rainfall, particularly from November to December. However, rain usually comes in short heavy bursts followed by sunshine. The rainforest is at its most vibrant. Hotel rates are lower.

- Currency: Brunei Dollar (BND) is interchangeable with the Singapore Dollar (SGD) at par. Credit cards are widely accepted in Bandar Seri Begawan's hotels and malls. Cash is essential for markets, taxis, and rural areas.
- Transportation: Brunei International Airport (BWN) in Bandar Seri Begawan is the main gateway. Cars are the primary mode of transport — renting a car is the most convenient way to explore. Buses are limited and infrequent. Water taxis connect the main city to Kampong Ayer.
- Language: Malay (Bahasa Melayu) is the official language. English is widely spoken, especially in business and tourism. Mandarin and Chinese dialects are also common.
- Islamic Culture: Brunei is a conservative Islamic sultanate. Dress modestly — cover shoulders and knees in public. Alcohol is not sold anywhere in the country. Non-Muslims can bring limited alcohol (2 bottles) for personal consumption. During Ramadan, eating and drinking in public during daylight hours is prohibited.
