Jurisdiction
The US Consulate General Mumbai, the Consulate-General of Japan and the Consulate General of Italy each list Maharashtra in their district, so Mumbai residents apply here rather than in Delhi.
Rules worth knowing
Since 20 April 2026 the Japanese consulate no longer accepts visa applications directly; they go through VFS. The German visa section admits applicants only at their appointed time. The British Deputy High Commission is open to the public by appointment only.
Getting there
For Bandra Kurla Complex, the nearest suburban stations are Bandra on the Western line and Kurla on the Central and Harbour lines, and Metro Line 3 has a BKC station. Mahalaxmi has its own Western line station. For Nariman Point, use Churchgate or CSMT.

Usually not. Most countries take applications and biometrics at a visa application centre rather than at the consulate. The main exception is the USA, where you attend the Visa Application Center and then an interview at the US Consulate General, both in Bandra Kurla Complex.
The US Visa Application Center and the VFS Global Trade Centre office are in Bandra Kurla Complex. VFS centres for Canada, Germany and Japan are in the Urmi Axis building at Mahalaxmi. BLS International handles Spain from Dalamal Towers at Nariman Point. Addresses can change, so check your appointment letter.

Plan to arrive well before your slot. Office-hour traffic into Bandra Kurla Complex is heavy, security checks take time, and several centres limit bags and electronics. Applicants arriving late can lose the appointment.
